Early Spring for Returning Students

Register Now

As someone returning to RIC, you may register for Early Spring courses right now, unless it has been three or more semesters since you have been enrolled. 

Please Note: If it has been three or more semesters since you have been enrolled at RIC, the Records Office needs to be contacted (401-456-8213, records@healthydairyland.com) so that they can either enter your information into the system or update your record.

If you can register right now, the registration system is available from 7 am–11 pm daily.

Course Cancelation and Add/Drop Deadlines

Should RIC need to cancel a course that is scheduled to be offered, we will do so by December 12. If you need to add or drop a course, that must be done no later than the day after the first day of that class.

Finding the Courses You'll Register for on MyRIC

While the schedule of classes gives you a sense of what is being offered and when, MyRIC will provide you with course descriptions to help you decide what to register for:

1. Go to MyRIC and access your account by entering your user ID and password (all lowercase). Students who require assistance with accessing online registration should contact the Disability Services Center at 401-456-2776. If you forgot your ID or password or have trouble accessing your account, contact the Records Office at 401-456-8213.
2. To locate and look through course(s) navigate from the RIC Announcements page to the RIC Student Homepage (using the top, left drop-down menu). Then click on Student Center > Search for Classes button. (Just ensure that the "Term" drop-down menu has "Spring 2024" selected.)

   Please Note: When you select "Spring 2024" and run a search you will be shown courses for both Early Spring and Spring semesters. Please know that only courses with "12/26/2023 - 01/13/2024" in the Meeting Dates column are Early Spring courses. And please be sure to avoid course meeting times that conflict with each other.

Call/Class Numbers

Call/class numbers are the five-digit number preceding each course and are very important for these reasons:

• this is the number you will need in order to register for, add, or drop a given course
• clicking on a call number will provide you with the course description

Also, if a course has multiple sections, please note the unique section number. You may not register for more than one section of a course.

Departmental Consent

Some courses require departmental consent to enroll. These courses are identified in Class Search on the Class Details page with the phrase "Department Consent Required." A course may have this designation for reasons such as: minimum grade point average, earned credits, major, or permission of department chair. Contact the offering department for registration information.

College Catalog 

The college catalog contains degree requirements for all undergraduate programs of study, rules that affect students, descriptions of courses, and a list of the faculty and administration of the college. You must know the rules given in the catalog for your degree program. The catalog is the document of authority for all students. 

Registering for Early Spring Classes on MyRIC 

1. Go to MyRIC and access your account by entering your user ID and password (all lowercase). 2. To begin the registration process navigate from the RIC Announcements page to the RIC Student Homepage (using the top, left drop-down menu). Then click on Student Center > select Enroll from the left-hand navigation.
3. Please be certain that, for any course you're looking to enroll in, the Meeting Dates column reads "12/26/2023 - 01/13/2024," indicating an Early Spring course. And please be sure to avoid course meeting times that conflict with each other.

If you are a returning student who is planning to register for both Early Spring and Spring semesters, then your total credits for the two semesters should typically not exceed 18. Any exception to this maximum course load policy must be approved in writing by the appropriate academic dean. Additionally, exceeding 18 credits means additional cost, unless you are currently receiving the Hope Scholarship. (The Hope Scholarship covers the additional tuition cost).
